Liner Notes

This project began in 2011 as a training exercise to get familiar with Pro Tools. I made a few video game cover songs, starting with Jurassic Park SNES and MechWarrior 2. The songs were taken from games that I played as a child that always stood out to me. This was my first venture into covering other people's music, and I was having a fun time of it, so I decided to make a few more. I was releasing them one at a time on YouTube and a fan of the covers had requested I do Karin Theme from Street Fighter Alpha 3, this is the only track that I have no personal connection to. These covers were not originally intended to become an actual album release, but I had created enough video game cover songs that it only seemed logical to release them as an album that would be titled "Game Covers". Game Covers has had three different releases, with the first release being in 2011. I returned to it in 2014 to try and revamp the songs and put a bit more effort into them. All I ended up doing was altering the songs without actually improving them, a little trick I learned from George Lucas. Similar to my other music projects during this time, Game Covers (2014) went through development hell due to my lack of production experience. Some people say they prefer the original 2011 versions and I somewhat agree, but I could not revert to the original versions due to lost or overwritten files along with corrupted files because my computer rig operated off of potato technology. In 2018, Game Covers was once again in the works to be given some audio improvements and further alterations. Up until this point there were only 10 tracks included on the album and I decided to add three more covers into the works to match the track count of my two previous albums Social Phobia and Electrick Shock. The late additions to the project are Super Mario 64, Top Gear Rally, and Age of Empires II. The final 2018 release is as good as I was able to get it to sound, but still not something I'm happy with. Game Covers is for sure a random venture, but it has been very useful to me. Being a "nobody" in the music scene, I do not have a fan base of any sort, but Game Covers was able to get some attention due to the fact that it is associated with video games the people are already familiar with.
